A NOTE FROM PASTOR RONNY…

Ronny+and+Angie+Raines+3.jpg

We're stepping into the fifth month of 2025...May. Time is flying by. I'm thankful for the Lord's activity in our lives and church this year.

I encourage you to continue praying for Chris Beck and his family. He's meeting with his medical team consistently. I hope the following five prayer points help you:

  • Pray for his walk with the Lord

  • Pray for his time with his family

  • Pray for his interactions with his doctors

  • Pray for his divine healing from the Lord

  • Pray for his sensitivity to Romans 8:28 moments

May is a strategic month for us at First Baptist Church.

As Mother's Day approaches on Sunday, May 11th, we want to acknowledge that this special day can bring a range of emotions. Whether your mother is with you or in Heaven, whether your relationship has been close or challenging, or whether you speak daily, we recognize the many realities surrounding motherhood. Obeying the biblical call to honor our parents, our church desires to appreciate and celebrate all the wonderful women in our lives on Mother's Day. Please know that we're keeping you in our prayers.

Our End of School Bash is on Wednesday, May 21. It's almost time to celebrate the end of another school year. A healthy church values relationships and fellowship. We'll have food, inflatables, and games. The event is from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  It'll be a fun night to enjoy the diverse ages and ethnicities of our church family. We plan to be outside in the Grace Parking Lot. I hope you'll attend and enjoy building memories with God's people.

This year's VBS Training is scheduled for Sunday, May 18. It'll be held in the Kid's Worship Area, beginning at 3:00 pm. During the training, Cheryl and Tabitha will go over the curriculum, safety procedures, and ways to best connect with the children, equipping you with the necessary tools and insights to make an eternal impact on the lives of children. VBS is one of the most evangelistic ministries we do all year. We get to share Jesus with hundreds of kids and their families. Here are a few needs: (1) Pray for Cheryl and Tabitha. (2) Invite kids to attend VBS. (3) Volunteer to serve during VBS. (4) Attend the training event. (5) Expect God to change lives and families. A fruitful VBS requires the involvement of many people. You're needed. If you have questions about registration or serving, please contact Cheryl or Tabitha.

Our Graduate Recognition and Luncheon is on Sunday, May 18. We have many high school seniors who are ready to participate this year. We'll honor the graduates in the morning worship service in the Grace Worship Center. We'll have a special luncheon for them and their families in the Laida Fellowship Hall immediately following the worship service. Cole and I will challenge the graduates as they embark on the next season of their lives. We'll give them a few gifts that day, too. I'm thankful for our church's spiritual investment in the "now generation." May God raise them up to make much of Jesus and expand His kingdom around the world!

I always want to keep you informed. Progress is being made in the Faith Building. New restrooms are being installed. Two conference rooms are being built. The Bridgeway that connects the Hope and Faith Buildings is being renovated. The entrance to the Loft area is being updated. The outside steps of the Faith Sanctuary are being repaired. We had an offer on the two parking lots. A counteroffer was made. We're waiting at this point to see what's next. God is faithful. What a blessing to wait patiently as He works! If you ever have any questions about the work, please don't hesitate to contact us.

May this month be a glorious month for First Baptist Church!

Angie and I love you!

Blessings,

Pastor Ronny

Ministry News-01.jpg

Preschool

Easter 2025

Easter Sunday was a truly special day in our Preschool Ministry. Our little ones brought beautiful flowers to the cross as a joyful way to celebrate that Jesus Is Alive! They even had the chance to visit an “empty tomb” helping bring the Easter story to life in a fun and meaningful way that they’ll never forget. Each moment was filled with wonder, laughter, and hearts open to the love of Jesus! We’d love for your preschooler to be part of this growing community. Join us every Sunday at 9:00am and 10:30am at First Baptist. Right now, our preschoolers are learning about the early church, Abraham, Ruth, and other Biblical people. They are growing in their faith and love for God. Come be a part of the joy, learning, and love each week!

First Learners Preschool Is Hiring!

Do you have a heart for little ones and a passion for sharing God’s love? First Learners Preschool (FLP) is looking for joyful, dedicated team members to join our thriving two day a week Christian preschool program.  At FLP, we blend faith and fun as we teach children about God, Jesus, their ABCs, and 123s in a loving, Christ-centered environment. Our highly acclaimed program has a student waitlist, but here’s the good news: We reserve spots for the children and grandchildren of our amazing staff! This is more than a job – it’s a chance to make a difference, share your faith, and be part of something truly special. Come be part of a team that’s planting seeds of faith, joy, and learning each week! Call us today at 931-245-0004 to learn more and find out how to apply!

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Our Preschool Ministry is collecting empty Pringles cans and oatmeal containers to use for creative craft projects that help bring the Bible stories to life for our little ones. These simple items become everything from towers of Jericho to boats for Noah – with a little imagination and a lot of glue.

Please drop off your clean, empty containers at the Preschool Welcome desk. Thank you for supporting our ministry and helping make Bible time exciting for our preschoolers.

General Agape has called the mighty Agape League together to solve a crisis in Suburbiana City, high in the mountains in the impenetrable Agape Fortress! Calling on the super-powered fruits of the spirit available to every follower of Christ, these heroes must face an enemy within their ranks when Ironblade forgets his superhero identity (self-control) and becomes entangled in the pervasive worldly culture. Things worsen when they learn that the entire group faces the same fate unless each member continues to exhibit their gifts! Will the League recover its powers? Will the citizens of Suburbia City be saved? Will the source of true power – God’s Word – finally be utilized before time runs out? Find out in the latest release from Word Kids, The Agape League: Superheroes of the Spirit! Acclaimed children’s writer Christy Semsen has delivered another high-powered production that is super-sized in every way: a high-octane story, clever dialogue, dynamic contemporary songs, and uncompromising spiritual truth.

History unfolds many glorious examples of God’s activity, too. Is revival needed in our day? If so, will the Lord do it now? Let’s come together and ask the Lord to revive us again. May we experience a fresh movement of God, a downpour of His Holy Spirit! We hope you’ll join us for this timely study.

  • 23rd—Road Trip Day

  • 26th—MEMORIAL DAY

Parents, we have been very happy to welcome your First Learners to the library several times this spring.  Their behavior has been exemplary, and their rate of returning books has been nearly record-setting—49 books checked out, 48 returned!  A few adults could attempt to emulate this; the last time I checked, we have 56 items overdue.   Hint, Hint!

MOTHER’S DAY GIFT, May 11:  Help your grandchildren make a gift for their mother.  Follow the directions to mix a package of plaster of Paris to make a garden steppingstone.  Pour the mixture into a disposable metal pie pan; have the grandchild press his/her hand in the mixture before it hardens.  Using a stick or sharp object, write his first name and date.  Encourage him to decorate around the edge with colored stones or marbles.  When the plaster is dry, flip the pan to remove the steppingstone; discard the pie pan.*

HONORING MEMORIAL DAY, which is May 26; its purpose is to honor military personnel who have fought and died while serving in the United States armed forces.  Some ways to participate:

1.  Attend a Memorial Day parade.  2.  Plan a picnic to honor friends and family members who are veterans.  3.  Choose a forgotten veteran in a cemetery; visit the grave.  Lay a flower on the monument, and say a prayer thanking God for those who have served our country.  4. Visit a retirement home where veterans live and honor them by listening to their stories.*
