EVERY FRIDAY IS PRAYER DAY
We had a great initial day of prayer with over 250 people taking 15 minutes from their day to pray for God to work in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. We are praying for our church, our community and our country. We are praying for those affected by the virus and those in the heath field who are serving so faithfully and sacrificially.
Our Pastor has called us to continue this effort and make every Friday a Day of Prayer. Those who have signed up have committed to continue. We invite you to join us. No need to sign up, just pray. We ask you to set aside 15 minutes during the day to stop and pray. A new prayer guide will be posted here each Thursday to help direct your prayer time.
Of course, every day is a day for us to pray. We are reminded to continually be in a spirit of prayer.
2 Chronicles 7:14
”And if my people, who bear my name, humble themselves, pray and seek my face, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.”
FBC PRAYER LETTER for JUNE 26, 2026
FBC Day of Prayer Friday, June 26, 2026
“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” II Chronicles 7:14
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you, for everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the one who knocks; the door will be opened.” Matthew 7:7-8
Today we are reviewing some of the writings of Dietrich Bonhoeffer. (He was hanged in April 1945 in Germany). He might have been left alone by Nazi Germany had his Christianity been theoretical, but Bonhoeffer’s Christianity was to be practiced in terms of responsible, obedient action in every concrete situation of life.
He wrote about cheap and costly grace, obedience, discipleship, the Cross, prayer, the Bible, suffering, freedom, the family of God, Christian fellowship and silence. We chose to share Bonhoeffer’s words about Silence.
There may be a negative attitude toward silence before God. This silence is the simple stillness of the individual under the Word of God. We are to be silent before hearing the Word because our thoughts are already directed to the Word. We are silent after hearing the Word because the Word is still speaking and dwelling within us. We are silent at the beginning of the day because God should have the first word and we are silent before going to sleep because the last word also belongs to God.
Silence is nothing else but waiting for God’s Word and coming from God’s Word with a blessing. Real silence, real stillness, really holding one’s tongue comes only as the sober consequence of spiritual stillness.
God, during this noisy world, permit us to hear Your silence and in it grow in strength and in power.
Remember to pray for Cole and Kenadee McCartney and the 27 students who are returning from GA at the Student Camp. As of Wednesday, one of the students had prayed to be saved and become a Jesus Follower!
If you would like to share a Prayer Request that we can join you in praying for, go to fbct.org/prayer. You will find a form at the bottom of the page that can be easily and quickly filled out and submitted with your praise or request. These requests will be sent to the prayer team of intercessors. As the Lord answers your request, share your praise in the same form. May we abide in the love of God, the grace of Jesus, and the fellowship of The Holy Spirit.
Yours in Christ,
Bill Graham
