A NOTE FROM PASTOR RONNY…

Ronny+and+Angie+Raines+3.jpg

June is a month for weddings, vacations, camps, mission trips, Father's Day, and Vacation Bible School. I'm excited about the Lord's work this month.

And speaking of the Lord's work, let me share several exciting developments and happenings at First Baptist Church:

A New Associate Pastor

While we continue to pray for Chris and his healing, we're excited to announce that Bro. Erdie Carter will be joining our ministry staff. Bro. Erdie has served as a senior pastor for years. His wife is Pam, and they have a son, Drew. Bro. Erdie and his family are moving to Clarksville from the Owensboro, Kentucky, area. He'll help me with the day-to-day operations and provide leadership for the Discipleship Team. Bro. Erdie and his family plan to join the church this Sunday. He'll begin his ministry assignment with us on Sunday, June 1. He's a graduate of Campbellsville University and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. We're continuing to provide prayer and financial support to Chris and his family, and we're praying for the day when Chris can return. In the meantime, I'm excited for you to meet Bro. Erdie and his family soon. Thank you to our Deacon Leadership Group and Personnel Team for your involvement and wisdom. Y'all are a blessing.

A Week to Welcome Hundreds of Kids

It's almost time for Vacation Bible School. Cheryl and Tabitha have served well. Thank you for praying for them and supporting their ministry efforts. The theme this year is entitled, "Magnified." Our prayerful desire is to make much of Jesus. I'm thankful for the hundreds of people who have agreed and been trained to serve in VBS. We couldn't do this ministry without you.

If you're unable to be on campus and serve, you can still "stand in the gap" for VBS. You can serve as a prayer warrior. Here are five ways for you to pray:

  • Pray for Cheryl, Tabitha, and the many dedicated, trained, and unified workers.

  • Pray for the hundreds of boys and girls who'll be on campus, learning about Jesus, building relationships, and having fun.

  • Pray for the gospel to be shared in a way that's accurate, clear, and invitational, not manipulative or pushy.

  • Pray for God's protective hand to be over the campus, the kids, and the leaders and workers.

  • Pray for the follow-up efforts when VBS is finished and decisions have been made, helping kids and their families know Jesus and obey Him.

A Strategic Meeting in Dallas

The annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention is coming soon. Our church is sending eight messengers to the convention. A major celebration this year is the 100th Anniversary of the Cooperative Program and the Baptist Faith and Message. I'm always moved by the IMB's Sending Celebration and NAMB's luncheon. Our annual meeting has the feel of a family reunion. We'll deal with our tough issues for sure. I plan to present my annual SBC report on Wednesday evening, June 18 at 6:00 pm. It'll take place in the Grace Worship Center. I hope you'll attend and be inspired by God's mighty work in our convention of churches.

A Busy Church Calendar

June is an active month. We'll celebrate Father's Day. We have many mission trips scheduled. Our student ministry is going to camp in Florida. We'll have our 24-hour prayer time again. I thank you for supporting these ministries and events. We're better together.

Summer can bring unique challenges for churches, but if we commit to these five actions, I believe it will be truly a glorious summer for First Baptist Church.

1. Be faithful in your attendance

2. Be generous in your giving

3. Be devoted in your prayers

4. Be ready in your witness

5. Be consistent in your walk

Angie and I are praying for you. We love you.

Blessings,
Pastor Ronny

Preschool

Calling All Big-Hearted Grown-Ups!

Our Preschool Connect Group Needs YOU—Starting August 10!

Do you love cheerful giggles, wobbly first steps, and watching little hearts grow big in faith? Then we’ve got the perfect spot just for you!

As our Sunday morning Preschool Connect Groups launch into a brand-new year starting August 10, we’re on the lookout for a few wonderful grown-ups to join our teaching team—especially in these two delightful rooms:
Crawlers Room – Full of joyful babbles, curious crawlers, and big-eyed wonder
3s & 4s Room – Bursting with curious questions, sweet songs, and busy hands

These preschoolers are learning about God’s love one story, song, and sticker at a time—and we need loving leaders to help guide them along the way.

Whether you have experience or just a heart willing to serve, we’ll equip you with everything you need to feel confident and ready. (And yes—there will be goldfish crackers and Jesus songs!)

The best hour of your week and the impact is Eternal.

Ready to play, pray, and make a difference? Contact Mrs. Cheryl McCrary to say, “I’m in!”

Things worsen when they learn that the entire group faces the same fate unless each member continues to exhibit their gifts! Will the League recover its powers? Will the citizens of Suburbia City be saved? Will the source of true power – God’s Word – finally be utilized before time runs out? Find out in the latest release from Word Kids, The Agape League: Superheroes of the Spirit! History unfolds many glorious examples of God’s activity, too. Is revival needed in our day? If so, will the Lord do it now? Let’s come together and ask the Lord to revive us again. May we experience a fresh movement of God, a downpour of His Holy Spirit! We hope you’ll join us for this timely study.
