A NOTE FROM PASTOR RONNY…

Ronny+and+Angie+Raines+3.jpg

As your pastor, I want to take a personal moment in this month's newsletter article.

On Sunday, July 5th, Angie and I will celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. I'd like to testify that God has been generous, good, and gracious to us. He has blessed us far beyond what we deserve and according to His promises.

Ephesians 3:20-21 - "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

Proverbs 31:10 asks, "An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels."

As a testimony to God's gift, He allowed me to find an excellent wife 40 years ago, and her name is Angie.

She has blessed me in ways that words can't adequately express. She has sat in the front row for years in churches as I shared God's Word. Angie is my biggest cheerleader as I follow God's call in pastoral ministry.

I want to take a few moments and thank the Lord for Angie's faithfulness, love, and sacrifice. She has given up so much to support me.

  • Seminary Studies: That journey required hours upon hours of study and sacrifice. I took classes as I pastored full-time. We had to say no to many invitations because I needed time to pastor and study. Angie never complained or indicated that she was missing out.

  • Long Hours: My pastoral commitment has required long hours. I watched her teach school for years. She'd come home from the classroom, put her stuff away, and walk back out the door as we made hospital or home visits. I don't recall a single time that she said no when we needed to serve.

  • Pastoral Transitions: God's call has led us to move several times. Those moves weren't easy or comfortable. The Lord gave us many tough assignments. We have always prayed to be surrendered and open to God's call. In every move, Angie never hesitated or pushed back on leaving one assignment for a new one.

  • Domestic Support: My schedule is generally filled with sermon study, ministry meetings, and pastoral care. My skills around the house are very limited. Angie takes care of our house in amazing ways. She keeps things clean and in order, she makes sure any repairs are made, and she handles most of the financial details.

  • Recreational Involvement: One of my outlets is playing golf. Angie doesn't play golf. However, she has always encouraged me to play. I can't count the number of times she has ridden in a golf cart, walked the fairways (or in the rough), or waited while I played a few more holes or hit a few more shots.

As Angie and I celebrate 40 years together, it's a joy for me to honor her. One daily discipline that has blessed our marriage is the practice of praying together. We pray together long before the sun rises every morning. What a blessing to pray for her and to hear her call my name out to the Lord. I believe couples who pray together stay together.

We plan to take a few weeks off this month to celebrate and rest. Angie and I are grateful for you. We've been blessed over the years to serve alongside many gracious and kind people.

We love you!

As I reflect on 40 years together and pray for many more, I need to make one final statement about our marriage and ministry journey together: "All the praise goes to Jesus!"

Blessings,
Pastor Ronny

VBS 2026 RECAP

What an incredible week we experienced at Illumination Station VBS 2026! Our church campus was filled with laughter, worship, learning, and the joyful energy of hundreds of children discovering that Jesus is the Light of the World (John 8:12).

Throughout the week, over 350 children explored God's Word through engaging Bible stories, energetic worship, hands-on crafts, exciting games, missions, snacks, and meaningful small group time. From our youngest preschoolers to our oldest elementary students, every child had opportunities to grow in their understanding of God's love and His plan for their lives.

One of the greatest blessings of the week was watching our church family serve together. More than 300 volunteers faithfully gave their time, talents, and hearts to create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment for every child and family who walked through our doors. Whether greeting families, teaching in classrooms, leading worship, preparing snacks, decorating, serving behind the scenes, or praying faithfully, each volunteer played an important role in making this week such a success.

Our children also demonstrated generous hearts through our Missions emphasis, learning that God's light is meant to be shared with people everywhere. Their excitement for giving and helping others was a wonderful reminder that God can use even the youngest believers to make a difference. The children raised over $4,000 to help send children in Colorado to a camp.

The highlight of the week was our Family Worship Rally on Friday as parents and grandparents joined us to celebrate all God had done. Seeing children confidently sing, worship, and share what they learned throughout the week was a beautiful testimony to God's faithfulness.

Most importantly, we rejoice that seeds of the gospel were planted in countless hearts. We trust that God will continue to work in the lives of every child and family who attended Illumination Station. Please continue praying that the lessons learned this week will bear lasting fruit and that children will continue to grow in their relationship with Jesus.

Thank you to everyone who prayed, served, gave, invited families, and helped make Illumination Station such a wonderful week. We are grateful for a church that loves children and is committed to helping the next generation know and follow Christ.

"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." – Psalm 119:105

celebrating 250 years

America250.org is a valuable source of information about the birthday celebration.  www.state.gov/freedom-250 Celebrating 250 Years of American History provides videos, activities, stories, etc., dealing with the birthday celebration.

Talking about July 4th…There have been 27 different versions of the official U.S. flag from 1777-1960.  The Fourth is a big day for consumer spending—Americans will spend more than $9 billion for food alone.   Fourth of July celebrations keep ER’s busy with fireworks injuries.

Some people think Independence Day should be celebrated on July 2:  The Continental Congress voted on independence on July 2, 1776; but they didn’t approve the Declaration of Independence until July 4, 1776.

ORIGINAL DATA CENTERS

Libraries are the original “data centers,” and still going strong!  How do we compare to AI data centers?  Let’s see…

  • Positive environmental impact vs. massive energy and water consumption

  • Vibrant community spaces vs. industrial server warehouses

  • Human library staff helping people vs. automated systems replacing jobs

  • Encourages reading and critical thinking vs. endless AI-generated content

  • Serves everyone equally vs. access limited by subscriptions and computing power

  • Safe public gathering places vs. restricted high security compounds

  • Protects intellectual freedom vs. concerns about surveillance and data harvesting

  • Educational investment for communities vs. resource extraction for corporate growth

  • Places built for people vs. facilities built for machines

WELCOME!

We were very excited to welcome Ashley Keene to the church library staff June 14!  She is part of one of our military families; her husband is Zach, and they have four children.

INVENTORY

We are well past the time when we should have taken an inventory of the library’s holdings.  It would be very helpful if you could look at home on bookshelves and in children’s rooms to see if you have any library books or videos that are overdue.  Our current overdue list is more than 4 pages long.  Our items will always have a barcode on the upper left corner of the front cover.  If you need to return an item(s) when the library is not open, you may leave it (them) at the church office or in the book drop outside the library.  Library hours are Sunday, 9:15-10:30 AM, and Wednesday, 4-6 PM.

ITEMS NEEDED

Frances Sumner, Library Director, needs any rattan, wicker, or willow baskets (like you can set flower pots in) that you no longer need.  Thank you.
