A NOTE FROM PASTOR RONNY…

Ronny+and+Angie+Raines+3.jpg

Merry Christmas to you and your family!

The Christmas trees around the church are beautiful. I hope you'll walk around the concourse and enjoy the many trees. You'll be inspired by each tree's message. Our prayer is for the gospel to be shared. A huge thank you goes to everyone who worked hours upon hours on the trees. You did a fantastic job!

I hope you're making plans to attend the church's annual Christmas dinner. It's scheduled for Wednesday, December 17, beginning at 4:30 pm. Following the meal, our Christmas service will be in the Fellowship Hall. Age-graded ministries will have their own special events that evening at 6:00 pm. The Lord blesses His people when they spend time together.

Our Christmas Eve Candlelight worship gathering is happening on Wednesday, December 24th, at 5:00 pm in the Grace Worship Center. It's always a special evening of worship. I hope you and your family are planning to participate. As we say every year, it's a wonderful service to invite other people to attend with you. Worship is the biblical response to the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

One goal for December is to get ready for the new year. How do you desire to grow in Christ in 2026? Reading the Bible is an essential discipline for spiritual growth. We've prepared many Bible reading plans. You can find them online or at the concourse display. Will you commit to reading the Bible every day in 2026? That practice will change your walk with God, your life, and your relationships with other people.

Cole McCartney and I leave for Israel in a few days. We return on Monday, December 8th. We've been invited to attend meetings in the Holy Land with other selected pastors and ministry leaders. We'll meet with Israeli political leaders, defense force personnel, and many of the October 7th hostages and their families. Cole and I are honored to be invited by Dr. Jay Strack to attend and participate. I plan to share about the experience during our Christmas service on Wednesday night, December 17th.

I want to give you seven ways to pray for Cole and me over the next few days. As you pray for us, please pray for Angie and Kenadee, too.

1. Pray for our travels to and from Israel. We need to arrive at the airport on time. We hope to have no issues with our connecting flights. We desire to arrive in Israel safe and well.

2. Pray for our fellowship with other pastors and ministry leaders. I'll already know many of them. However, it'll be an opportunity to deepen current relationships and establish new ones.

3. Pray for the many Israeli leaders whom we'll meet. The plan is to meet with many high-level leaders. The Bible commands us to pray for those in authority. We want to show respect and thankfulness for them.

4. Pray for opportunities to turn everyday conversations into gospel conversations. As God opens doors, we pray to share the gospel with people. From planes, hotels, buses, and restaurants, we want to make much of Jesus.

5. Pray for safety while in Israel. Security will be high and intense. However, we're scheduled to travel in buses to various sites. We'll walk the streets of the Old City at various times, too. We're thankful that God protects His people.

6. Pray for the Jewish people and the economy in Israel. The October 7th attacks and ongoing war with Hamas have hurt people and the economy. It's always a blessing to pray for the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6).

7. Pray for Cole and me to have teachable spirits. I've traveled to Israel many times. However, this trip will be vastly different. We'll see and experience things on this trip that are historic and rare. We pray to seize the moment.

Angie and I are thankful to have served at FBC Clarksville for five years. We've experienced and seen the goodness, grace, and glory of God. We love you!

As we face a busy month, let's make sure that we keep Christ in Christmas!

Merry Christmas,

Pastor Ronny

First Learners Preschool
Honors Veterans with Heartfelt Parade

On Thursday, November 13th, our preschool halls were filled with red, white, and blue as First Learners Preschool hosted a very special Veterans Day Parade. It was a meaningful and touching morning for everyone involved. Our honored veterans—family members, friends, and loved ones of our preschoolers—were visibly moved as our little ones cheered, waved flags, and offered simple but sincere “thank you’s” for their service.

From bright smiles to tiny salutes, the preschoolers were full of joy and pride as the veterans walked the halls. Their enthusiasm reminded us all of the importance of gratitude and the value of teaching even the youngest hearts to honor those who serve.

We are grateful to God for every veteran who joined us and to all who have served our country. Thank you for allowing our preschoolers to show their appreciation in such a meaningful and memorable way!

Daniel & the Lions’ Den

On Sunday, November 16th, something truly extraordinary happened in our Preschool Ministry-it was transformed into a vibrant den of little lions! Dressed in their most adorable lion costumes, our preschoolers embarked on a thrilling biblical adventure, diving into the story of Daniel & Lions’ Den. It was a day filled with fun, learning, and lots of roaring!

Our special highlight was a visit from “Daniel”! In his captivating storytelling, he brought the ancient narrative to life, showing our little lions how faith and trust in God can lead to miraculous outcomes. Through this immersive experience, our children didn’t just hear about Daniel’s courage and God’s faithfulness; they felt a part of the story. It was a day where faith met fun, and lessons were learned amidst laughter.

We are proud of our little lions for their enthusiastic participation and of our ministry team leaders for creating such an unforgettable experience. This event was not just a day of play – it was a day where our children learned about bravery, faith, and the power of trust in a way they will remember for years to come.

Stay tuned for more exciting adventures in our Preschool Ministry.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT GROWTH GROUPS BEGINNING JANUARY 7

Wednesdays | 6:00-7:15pm

  • Celebration of Discipline: Mike Madewell - Room FH2234 - COST: $10
This study will explore the 'classic disciplines' of Christian faith: the inward disciplines of meditation, prayer, fasting, and study; the outward disciplines of simplicity, solitude, submission, and service; and the corporate disciplines of confession, worship, guidance, and celebration.

  • DivorceCare: Wayne & Nancy Wilkinson - Room 2208, Hope Building Parlor (NO COST)
DivorceCare’s life-changing support groups welcome people and guide them on the path of recovery after separation or divorce. Over 1 million people have found comfort and hope through this 13-week, video-based series.

  • Man Journey: Ron Pendergrass - The Loft - COST: $10
In a world that’s confused masculinity with toxicity and strength with silence, The Man Journey invites men of all ages to reject passivity and redefine greatness through a life-transforming adventure anchored in biblical truth. With raw honesty and hard-earned wisdom, Tim Brown challenges tired formulas and calls men back to the question that matters most: What is a biblical man? Drawing from a legacy of faith, the weight of statistics, and powerful personal stories, Brown outlines the essential truths that awaken a man to his identity, equip him to lead courageously, and send him out to impact generations. Whether you’re a father, grandfather, mentor, or just a man searching for meaning, this book is your roadmap. This isn’t another checklist for Christian men. It’s a battle cry. It’s a mission. It’s a journey. Grab your Bible, bring your questions, and prepare to walk a path that many avoid—but every man needs.

  • God of Creation (Women’s Bible Study): Ashley Keene - Original Fellowship Hall (Mark Briggs’ Classroom) - COST: $10
The opening lines and chapters of Genesis teach us fundamental truths about God. We watch Him bring light after darkness, order after chaos, and rest after toil—all through the power of His Word. Over 10 sessions of verse-by-verse study, dive into the first 11 chapters of Genesis by following three critical stages of understanding: comprehension, interpretation, and application. Teaching videos are key to understanding this study. Revisit familiar stories and historical figures, challenge your basic knowledge, and discover deeper meanings in the text. As God reveals Himself through Scripture, we can only begin to understand ourselves when we first glimpse the character, attributes, and promises of our Creator.

SUNDAY NIGHT GROWTH GROUP BEGINNING JANUARY 4

Sundays | 5:00-7:00pm

GriefShare Support Group - Lyle & Pam Carlson - Room 2208, Hope Building Parlor (NO COST)
GriefShare is a safe, welcoming place where people understand the difficult emotions of grief. Through this 13-week group, you’ll discover what to expect in the days ahead and what’s “normal” in grief. Since there are no neat, orderly stages of grief, you’ll learn helpful ways of coping with grief, in all its unpredictability—and gain solid support each step of the way.

GriefShare will begin on January 18, 2026, with scheduled breaks on February 8 and April 5.

Learn more and sign up at fbct.org/growthgroups.

MISSIONS

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD BOX COLLECTION

Thank you for being a part of this important mission opportunity. Our church’s goal was 500 shoeboxes, and we came wonderfully close—packing 464 boxes that will be delivered to children all over the world in the weeks to come!  Each child who receives a box will receive necessary hygiene items and toys for Christmas. Most importantly, each child will hear the Gospel of Jesus. Pray for God to open their eyes to the greatest gift of all – JESUS!

2026 MISSION OPPORTUNITIES / TRIPS INFORMATIONAL MEETING

Join us on Sunday, January 18th from 12:00 – 1:00pm in the Old Fellowship Hall as we roll out the mission opportunities for you and your family to consider in 2026. We will have both local and global opportunities. Lunch will be provided at no cost. There will not be childcare. We will have a kids’ area in the back of the room where children can color and create a craft while we share.

LOTTIE MOON CHRISTMAS OFFERING / WEEK OF PRAYER FOR INTERNATIONAL MISSIONS

We are beginning our annual emphasis on international mission work. First, we are calling our church to pray for international missions. You will find a prayer guide on your way into the Grace Sanctuary and at Missions Landing. Second, we will collect an offering throughout December that supports Southern Baptist international missionaries. You can give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering by using an IMB envelope in the back of our church pews, or you can give online at www.fbct.org/giving. As you give, 100% goes directly to support our 3,600 missionaries worldwide. Our church goal is $25,000. As a result of SBC Churches giving to the offering in 2024, we can rejoice that:

  • 795,482 people heard full gospel presentation

  • 144,969 new believers

  • 68,628 baptisms

  • 7,025 new groups formed / 2,489 new churches formed

SAFETY AND SECURITY TEAM UPDATES

  • In November the Safety and Security Team (SST) participated in active shooter training provided by the Tallahassee Chief of Police.

  • Also in November, we stood up a Medical Team to respond to emergencies during Sunday Connect and Worship times.  Any SST member with a radio can reach them.

  • We are always looking for a few good men and women interested in serving on the SST.  We have position available for security team, medical professionals, and tech savvy volunteers to operate our camera systems.  We really need more camera operators.  If you are interested, please send an email to:  security@fbct.org

ADVENT ACTIVITIES

There are 25 days of advent leading up to Christmas.  Here are a few activities for family time during this season:

  • Take a family walk around the neighborhood after dark with flashlights and discuss what it must have been like for the wise men searching for the star of Bethlehem.

  • Create luminaries along your driveway by placing flashlights or electric candles inside paper bags.  Discuss the concept that Jesus is the Light of the World.

  • Decorate each bedroom with a different Christmas carol theme.

  • Have a “candlelight” picnic or sleepover by the light of the Christmas tree.

  • Play “Name that Christmas Tune”.  Hum or play a few notes on an instrument and have others guess.

  • Make Christmas trees using sugar ice-cream cones turned upside down.  Cover with green frosting and add sprinkles or colorful candy as ornaments.

BOOK SPOTLIGHT

We are attempting to “Spotlight” a library book that relates to the Pastor’s sermon each week in December.  Look for this in the VOICE.

Book Spotlight: MORE THAN A CARPENTER

By Josh McDowell and Sean McDowell

The CHRISTmas season opens doors for meaningful conversations about our faith — but many of us hesitate, unsure of what to say. More Than a Carpenter is a powerful, easy-to-read book that helps believers share their faith with confidence and clarity.

Jesus is not just a storybook figure. He was a real person in history — who lived, walked, taught, died, and rose again in real places, among real people. The eyewitness accounts and historical evidence of His life and resurrection make Him the most credible figure in all of history.

And yet, Jesus was so much more than a man. His life continues to transform hearts, shape nations, and give hope to the world. He is the Faithful One, the Savior of the world, and the King who is coming again.

Josh and Sean McDowell present clear evidence for who Jesus claimed to be — the Son of God. Whether you’re deepening your faith or learning to share it, this book will strengthen and prepare you. He prepares us for battle, He calls us to be His witnesses, and His grace is amazing!

As we celebrate this CHRISTmas season, remember that Jesus is faithful at all times and worthy to receive glory, honor, and praise. Share this book — and the hope of Christ — with someone who needs to know Him.

“Always be prepared to give an answer… for the hope that you have.” — 1 Peter 3:15
