A NOTE FROM PASTOR RONNY…
The heat is on. This summer has been extremely hot. Even amid triple-digit temperatures, our church has been active in our community and around the world. We have a mission team leaving for Northern Ireland in a few days.
It's time for schools to begin another year. Schools are places of learning and growth. However, they're also places of gospel advancement. In appropriate ways, God's Word can be taught, His gospel can be shared, and His people can pray.
As the new school year begins, I encourage you to pray the following seven prayer points:
Pray for students, teachers, and faculty members.
Pray for God's protective hand to be over school campuses.
Pray for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Young Life, Good News Clubs, and other gospel-centered groups serving on school properties.
Pray for believing students to be bold, courageous, and used to make much of Jesus throughout the school year.
Pray for School Resource Officers to be alert and diligent every day on campus.
Pray for any threats to be discovered and handled correctly and urgently.
Pray for schools to be places where students learn academics, play sports, enjoy activities, discover purpose, and build relationships.
August is a time of transition for us as a church, too. Schools start back. New ministries and studies begin. Vacations are over. Here is a list of several important dates for August. You can find more details about each of these ministries at www.fbct.org.
August 3: Connect Group Leaders' Training
August 4-6: Legacy VBS
August 7: Legacy Thursday
August 10: Connect Sunday
August 13: Fall Growth Groups Begin
August 17: Journeys of Paul Trip Meeting
The Faith Building Project continues to move forward. I'll begin a Wednesday night Bible study in the Faith Sanctuary on August 13. We'll study the Beatitudes from the Sermon on the Mount. The Hispanic Ministry plans to worship in the Faith Sanctuary again on Sunday, August 17. It's exciting to use that historic space again for the glory of God.
As we turn the corner to fall, our desire as a church is to worship God, love people, share Jesus, and make disciples. We're better together. We have new fall apparel items available for purchase. You can buy t-shirts or hoodies. You can see and purchase items in the Concourse on Sundays and Wednesdays. You can also see and purchase them during the week when the Church Office is open. The clothing items look amazing and are a great way to spread the word about our church and invite others to join us.
May the Lord move greatly this month at FBC!
Angie and I love you!
Blessings,
Pastor Ronny

WEDNESDAY NIGHT GROWTH GROUPS
6:00-7:15pm | Cost: $10
GROWTH GROUPS BEGINNING AUGUST 13
Daring Joy (Women’s Study): Tabitha Dowdy Original Fellowship Hall (Mark Briggs’ Classroom)
In this 7-session Bible study, Nicole Zasowski draws from her experience as a licensed marriage and family therapist to point you to the enduring joy Jesus promises. Through the examples of six women in the Bible who model both the vulnerability of joy and the power of celebration, you’ll see that God longs for you to embrace abundant joy! Don’t miss out on your beautiful, God-given life because you’re busy preparing for the worst.
Full Circle Parenting: Travis and Licia Massa - Room 2230 FH
Parenting isn’t for wimps. It’s not just the routines, schedules, discipline, and heartaches—it’s the hard conversations. Using the 3 Circles gospel tool (God’s design; brokenness; gospel), Jimmy and Kristin Scroggins will give you a “conversation map” to work through any tough conversations you have with your children, and will show you how it works with topics such as gender, sexuality, and marriage, technology, alcohol and substance abuse, bitterness, forgiveness, and restoration, and friendship and mean kids.
Character Still Counts: Mike Madewell - Room 2234 FH
In a world of social media snapshots and cable news sound bites, we’re often more concerned with our outer image than we are with our inner make up. But in the end, integrity trumps image. You can look good on the outside without being good on the inside. If you long to commit yourself to what matters most—the content of your character—join bestselling author James Merritt as he explores 13 overlooked traits that form the bedrock of a godly life and a good society. Along the way, you’ll encounter surprising role models—flawed people who failed spectacularly, overcame adversity, and went on to live lives worth imitating. In a world that has abandoned the virtues and values that matter, this book offers a clarion call to return to a simple message: Character still counts. It always has, and it always will.
The Man Journey (ReUp Men’s Study): Ron Pendergrass - The Loft
The Man Journey is a 12-week focus on discovering the answer to the vital questions… What Is A Biblical Man? The Man Journey will take you on a discovery of the three truths of a Biblical man and gain a clear definition of biblical masculinity. The Man Journey is a weekly experience where you discover the essentials of biblical manhood taught through video teaching, digital or printed content, and grow discussions that build authentic community.

PRAYER MINISTRY
In Mark 14:37 Jesus is in the Garden of Gethsemane intensely praying and finds the disciples sleeping. 37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." NIV
From Saturday, August 9, 2025, to Sunday, August 10, 2025, the First Baptist Prayer Team is asking the Body of Christ that meets in the Grace Worship Center each week to participate in a 24-hour time of prayer to seek the Lord .
Sign-up sheets to select which hour you want to pray will be at the Connect Centers. Prayer Points will be sent to you as to what to pray for specifically during your hour prayer time.
You ask how can I pray for one hour? Dick Eastman wrote a book several years ago “The Hour the Changed the World”. In it he gives a guide of 12 five-minute segments to pray. It is included in this message.
The Hour That Changes The World – By Dick Eastman
(1) Begin with Praise – Recognize God’s Nature Psalm 63:3, “Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
(2) Waiting – Silent Soul Surrender Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
(3) Confession – Temple Cleansing Time Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there be any grievous way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting!”
(4) Scripture Praying – Word Enriched Prayer Jeremiah 23:29, “Is not my word like fire, declares the Lord, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?”
(5) Watching – Develop Holy Alertness Colossians 4:2, “Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.”
(6) Intercession – Remember The World 1 Timothy 2:1-2, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”
(7) Petition – Share Personal Needs Matthew 7:7, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”
(8) Thanksgiving – Confess My Blessings 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
(9) Singing – Worship In Song Psalm 100:2, “Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!
(10) Meditation – Ponder Spiritual Themes Joshua 1:8, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
(11) Listening – Receive Spiritual Instruction Ecclesiastes 5:2, “Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few.”
(12) Praise – Recognize God’s Nature Psalm 52:9, “I will thank you forever, because you have done it. I will wait for your name, for it is good, in the presence of the godly.
Will you come and pray for one hour? Don’t say “the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak!” Choose your time to Glorify the Lord Jesus!
