A NOTE FROM PASTOR RONNY…
Thank you for your many expressions of thoughtfulness (cards, texts, calls, and prayers) regarding our 40th anniversary.
Y’all have been caring and loving to Angie and me. We had a great time away, celebrating our anniversary and enjoying a time of rest. As you know and experience, time seems to be moving fast. May you and I never take a single day of life or marriage for granted!
August is always an exciting month at FBC Clarksville. Praise the Lord for His work among us.
Here are several big events this month:
• Connect Group Leaders’ Training (August 2)
• Back to School Splash (August 5)
• Connect Sunday (August 9)
• Growth Groups (August 12)
Revival Services at Trinity Baptist Church
How long has it been since you attended a revival service? I’ve preached many revivals over the years. Dr. Rick Thompson has invited me to preach one of the upcoming revival services at Trinity. The Lord is working in that church family. I’m thankful for our church’s kingdom investment and partnership with them. I will be preaching on Sunday evening, August 9. The service starts at 7:00 p.m. The service will be held indoors. I encourage you to come out that Sunday night. Let’s pray for God to move and for the revival to be packed with people. It’ll be an exciting evening of worship and fellowship.
Our Mission Partner in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Angie and I recently spent a couple of days in Belfast, Northern Ireland. We met Pastor David Burke, his wife Ali, and their two boys, Fin and Levi while there. David is a godly young man who loves the Lord, his wife, his kids, his church, and his community. Although we had met over Zoom several times, nothing compares to sitting down together face to face. The Burkes welcomed us into their lovely home for tea and fellowship. We talked about life, marriage, and ministry. I was honored to pray over them.
Our mission team will be with him and his church family in a few days. He raved about the way our team serves the Lord and encourages his people.
I asked Pastor David seven ways that we could pray for him, his family, his church, and the mission team. Here are his requests:
1. Balance: He needs God’s wisdom to give adequate time for his marriage, family, and ministry. Increased financial support would give David greater flexibility to prioritize his time for family, ministry, and rest.
2. Leaders: He needs more leaders who are disciples and mature in their faith. A growing ministry requires more mature leaders. David and Ali shared that their schedules are full most days, so raising up additional leaders would be a tremendous blessing from the Lord.
3. Unity: He understands that the enemy’s goal is to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). In the midst of financial, social, and political pressures, he’s asking God to keep His people united.
4. Joy: He desires to maintain joy in life and ministry. The church is seeing people saved, baptized, and coming into membership. This season of gospel work is filled with joy.
5. Gratitude: He and Ali are thankful for the partnership with FBC Clarksville. The annual mission team is a blessing to them, the church family, and the community. God is using our church to bless the nations.
6. Ministry: He is praying for more and more gospel conversations. At the heart of discipleship is evangelism. God has given them several ministries that offer countless gospel opportunities.
7. Family: He and Ali are great parents to Fin and Levi. The two of them are praying for the salvation of their boys and for their boys to grow up and love the Lord and His church.
Pathways to Making Disciples
Our vision is to worship God, love people, share Jesus, and make disciples. The Lord has called us to focus on disciples, not just decisions. Discipleship happens in groups and intimate relationships. What has the Lord used to disciple you? How is He using you to disciple other believers?
Jesus invested in people. He called ordinary folks to come and follow Him (Matthew 4). Jesus taught them, and He sent them out to serve. We want to be a teaching and sending church. We have two primary platforms for teaching. We have Connect Groups on Sunday mornings and Growth Groups on Wednesday nights. We have classes for all ages.
We’d love to see you get involved on Sundays and Wednesdays. If we can help you find a group, please contact us in the Church Office or at one of our Connect Centers on Sunday mornings. We’re here to serve you.
Angie and I love you!
May the Lord bless us this month with His grace, favor, and provisions as we seek to glorify Him together!
Blessings,
Pastor Ronny

Large Group Bible Study - “One Another” Pastor Ronny - Grace Worship Center
Our church’s vision statement reads, “We exist to worship God, love people, share Jesus, and make disciples.” Loving people is about how we treat one another. The Bible has over fifty “one another” passages. As an example, God’s people are to pray for, love, and forgive each other. Pastor Ronny plans to teach many of the “one another” passages this fall on Wednesday nights. Relationships matter in the local church. Beginning August 12th, join us for this timely study in the Grace Worship Center.College Growth Group - "How Do We Live as Christians?" - The Loft
Following Jesus is about more than simply believing the right things—it is about living out our faith every day. What does it mean to love God, love others, represent His Kingdom, and make disciples in today's world? Join us as we explore these questions through "How Do We Live as Christians?", a Bible study designed to help you grow in your walk with Christ and learn how to faithfully follow Him wherever He leads.Beginning Wednesday, August 26, college students are invited to gather in The Loft for this engaging and practical study. Come build friendships, grow in God's Word, and discover what it truly means to live as a follower of Jesus.
Students - Cole McCartney - Student Space
It has been an exciting summer to say the least! Week after week, we have gathered expectant of what the Lord would do in our times of worship through song, the reading of His Word, and fellowship with one another. The Fall will be no different! This Fall, students, grades 6-12, will walk through the Bible and see how God's people have encountered His holy presence and what our response to that presence should be. As students see how God has drawn near to His people throughout Scripture, our prayer is that they would draw near to Him in return. We want them to grow in a walk with Jesus that shapes how they worship God, love people, share Jesus, and make disciples.Kids’ Night Children’s Ministry, Hope Building - 1st Floor
Our Kids Ministry, grades 1-5, has exciting Bible teaching planned each week! During August, children will discover the truth "I Am Designed for a Purpose" as they learn to serve, trust, and love like Jesus. Most importantly, please pray for this ministry—that God will bring the right students and volunteers, and that many lives will be impacted as we build relationships and share the hope of the gospel through ESL. Learn more at fbct.org/esl.
ARISE2READ - NORMAN SMITH ELEMENTARY
Our church has just been given an opportunity to be the hands of feet of Jesus in our community. This opportunity is to serve the 2nd grade students at Norman Smith Elementary School with their reading deficits. It is an easy sight word program and you don’t have to have a teaching background to make a difference. We will serve the kids on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15-3:30pm following the CMCSS schedule. You can participate on either day. Arise2Read will kick off on September 15. If you are interested, please contact Lisa Hicks at 901-601-7214.
Serve 1:8 – Brazil Mission Opportunities
Mark your calendars for Serve 1:8 on November 15! Formerly known as Mission Day, Serve 1:8 is a church-wide emphasis on living out Acts 1:8 by sharing the gospel in our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Please begin praying now that God will use this special day to mobilize our church for missions.
As part of our global missions focus, we invite you to learn more about our upcoming Brazil Mission Trips at an Interest Meeting on Sunday, August 16, at 3:00 PM in the Choir Room.
We will be offering two mission opportunities:
Trip 1: Saturday, October 31 – Saturday, November 7
Trip 2: Saturday, November 7 – Saturday, November 14
Participants may also choose to serve on both trips for a two-week mission experience.
The cost is $2,500 per trip, which includes airfare and all in-country expenses. Participants will also need a valid passport, travel insurance, and a background check.
If you have been praying about serving on an international mission trip, we encourage you to attend the interest meeting and discover how God may be leading you to serve in Brazil.

Reduce Your Kids’ Stress Level
Pressures of life affect many of us, regardless of age or stage of life. Even children and teens are experiencing symptoms of worry and strain due to circumstances in our culture. Try some of these to minimize anxieties:
Go for a walk—Any form of exercise can help to relieve the mounting strain on their brains.
Laugh a little (or a lot!)—It has been said that kids laugh about 300 times a day compared to adults at only a few times. So take your cues from the kids and find things to laugh about with them every day.
Listen to music—This is a way to potentially slow down a racing heart rate and reduce anxious thoughts.
Play with a pet—A cat or dog can help to reduce bad moods when the kids come home from school overwhelmed with homework.
Enjoy the water—Water seems to relax all of us.
Breathe deeply--Taking several deep breaths calms down a situation.
Sleep more hours—Many of us don’t get the sleep our bodies need. Spending minutes leading up to bedtime on social media or digital games makes it more difficult for us to get into peaceful sleep.
Tips to help get your child ready for the new school year
Schedule sleep time: Setting up a regular bedtime and wake-up routine before school starts is crucial.
Look up to learning: Keep a positive attitude and recall with your child the fun and exciting events, field trips and projects from the past.
Talk it out: Ask about school, showing your child that you value his education. Ask specific questions to show your interest.
Read, read, read: Reading with your child is a way to spend quality time together and to discern his reading level.

TELL SOMEONE: YOU CAN SHARE THE GOOD NEWS
By Greg Laurie
"So I said, 'What shall I do, Lord?' And the Lord said to me..." — Acts 22:10 (NKJV)
In Acts 22:6–11, the Apostle Paul stood before a crowd and shared the story of how his life was forever changed by an encounter with Jesus Christ. Rather than debating or arguing, Paul simply told his personal testimony—how the Lord met him on the road to Damascus, opened his eyes to the truth, and gave him a new purpose. His testimony became a powerful witness to the transforming grace of God.
Greg Laurie's Tell Someone builds on this same biblical principle. Many believers desire to share their faith but hesitate because they feel unqualified, fear rejection, or think they don't know enough Scripture. Laurie gently reminds readers that God has not called every Christian to be a preacher, but He has called every Christian to be a witness. One of the most effective ways to do that is by sharing what Christ has done in your own life.
Written in Laurie's warm, conversational style, this book offers practical encouragement and biblical wisdom for everyday evangelism. Through personal stories, Scripture, and helpful guidance, he demonstrates that witnessing begins with a genuine love for God and for people. Rather than viewing others as projects to complete, Laurie encourages believers to build authentic relationships and trust God to open doors for gospel conversations.
You don't need to have all the answers—you simply need to be willing to tell someone.
"One beggar telling another beggar where to find bread." — Greg Laurie
Whether you have walked with Christ for many years or are just learning how to share your faith, Tell Someone will encourage you to step out in faith and confidently tell others about the hope found in Jesus Christ. Like Paul in Acts 22, your story may be the very testimony God uses to draw someone else to Himself.
"You will be My witnesses…" — Acts 1:8
