Powerful Parenting Through Prayer

Powerful Parenting Through Prayer - header-01.jpg

If you are a parent or grandparent shepherding children under 18 years of age, the POWERFUL PARENTING THROUGH PRAYER event is for you.  On November 11th,  3:00 – 5:00pm in the Middle School area of the Hope building, there will be a keynote speaker and several breakouts about praying with and for your children and grandchildren from babies to teenagers.  They are in desperate need of your prayers.  Knowing God and how to walk with Him as the culture increasingly turns against them is as challenging as it has ever been in America.  On the one hand they face the rampant sexualization of our culture, gender confusion, and drugs.  On the other hand they look school shootings in the eye, bullying, depression and suicide, as well as many other adversities.  But they can handle it if they have parents and grandparents praying and equipped to shepherd them through it.  Childcare is provided at the cost of $1 per child, ages birth through 5th grade.

Leaders:
Tara Vinson - Keynote Speaker
Paul and Amanda Jennings - Preschool and Elementary School
Paul and Stacy Batson - Middle School and High School
Jackson Moser - Dealing With Media
Susanne Van Dyke - Leading Your Children To Christ
Sue Goad - Godly Grandparents

We Are Stronger Movie Event

First Baptist Clarksville Tennessee

WE ARE STRONGER movie event

Date: November 9th

Location: 202 Fifth Street (Hope Building, Laida Fellowship Hall)

Time: Movie starts at 6pm

The movie is free to the community with basic refreshments and simple snacks provided. There is no childcare available for this movie.

WE ARE STRONGER is about Master Sergeant Victor Raphael who is nearing the end of his military career when an explosion in Afghanistan leaves him injured. Back home, he is thrust into battle once again, but he hasn't been trained for this type of warfare. With his career behind him and painful physical therapy ahead, he finds himself without a purpose and in a war with his own mind. Having spent years with an ocean between them, his wife, Michelle, is distant and their marriage seems to be held together only by her sense of duty.

From leading troops into battle to being unable to leave the house, Vic finds himself isolated in more ways than he ever thought possible, until the unexpected happens. Through the help of two kids and some unlikely heroes, Vic must face the trauma and the wounds on his soul to save his marriage and to help his fellow brother in need. To succeed he must discover the true source of strength and realize he can't do it alone if he is going to win this war and emerge STRONGER.

This film was made in cooperation with the Stronger Alliance: Mighty Oaks, CRU Military, Amos House of Faith, Armed Forces Mission, and more who are dedicated to trauma recovery

Good News Club Training

Many schools across Montgomery County as well as surrounding counties have given Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) an open door to establish Good News Clubs in their schools and workers are needed to make those clubs possible. It takes a minimum of ten people to start a club. First Baptist Church has been a proud sponsor of the Good News Club at Rossview Elementary School for the past two years and as a result several children have become followers of Christ. In the last few months, four of those children, and a parent, were baptized at our Kirkwood campus. PRAISE THE LORD!!! Good News Clubs are an excellent way for us to be involved in local missions. The commitment is one afternoon a week and the reward is beyond measure.

New Worker Training
Saturday, July 28 | 8:30am - 4:30pm | Hope Building, Room 2161

This training is required for all new workers volunteering in a CEF Good News Club.
FREE! (Lunch provided; bring your Bible.)

For questions or to RSVP, contact the McAllisters at reachingkidsforjesus@gmail.com or 931.241.8202 (Please RSVP ASAP to help us plan!)

Thank you for being a vital part of reaching the children for Christ!

FOCUS Training Camp

A Note From Student Ministry...

We so excited that you are interested in serving as a FOCUS student leader.  Great student ministries have great student leadership. We pray that our culture sees our influence for Christ and many come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior as a result.

Below is the application to serve as a leader for FOCUS, which is the equivalent of VBS for grades 6-8. FOCUS will take place the week of June 11-15, 2018.

In order to serve as a FOCUS student leader you must meet all the following qualifications:

  • Completed 9th-12th grade by June 2018.
  • A baptized believer in Jesus Christ
  • A growing Christ follower that consistently practices spiritual disciplines
  • An active member of First Baptist Church Clarksville, TN
  • A consistent attendee of worship services, events, and church related activities
  • Actively involved in the Student Ministry of FBCT Clarksville, TN
  • A consistent attendee of Sunday school, Wednesday night worship, and student ministry related activities.

Our desire in the student ministry at FBC Clarksville is that student leaders would use their God given gifts, talents, and abilities to lead by example and serve out of a desire to make Jesus famous. Ultimately, it’s about seeing others come to know Christ as Savior.  Student leadership is NOT about personal fame, glory, or an extension of your social life. It is a privilege and should not be taken lightly.

The following is the process for becoming a student leader for FOCUS:

APPLY: This FOCUS student leader application is due no later than Sunday, June 3rd.

TRAINING: Next, you will go through a training process for your specific tasks for what you will be assigned for FOCUS.  We will be training from 12-5pm on Wednesday,June 6th in the Student Space. Lunch will be provided.

FOCUS:  Please remember that the FOCUS dates are June 11-15, 2018.  All members of the FOCUS team are required to attend all five days of FOCUS.
