Welcome to the FBCT Military Ministry page! As a combat veteran, I am grateful for your service and look forward to meeting you. Below I share a little information about my family, my time in service, current ministry goals, and hobbies. But first, should you have questions about FBCT or interested in serving with our Military Ministry or another ministry at First Clarksville, please contact me.

A little about who I am… I am a follower of Jesus Christ since 2007, husband of my beautiful bride, Tina, for thirty years, dad of two amazing daughters and two great son-in-law’s, and grandpa of five wonderfully talented grandchildren. I am a combat Veteran with twenty years of Active Duty Service in the United States Army. The military lifestyle has been rewarding and challenging. Tina has packed and moved our family several times during my military career. It was an incredible journey that ended with my retirement from Active Duty Service in 2011. My last ten years was with 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). De Oppresso Liber

After coming to faith in Jesus Christ in 2007, I was licensed to the work in the Gospel ministry by my former church in Kentucky and later ordained to the work of the Gospel ministry at a church in Tennessee. My bride and I joined First Baptist Clarksville in membership in 2016 after accepting to serve on staff with the Military Ministry. I have earned a Bachelor of Science in Religion with Liberty University, a Master of Theological Studies, Missions Emphasis, from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS), and a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) through the International Association of Trauma Professionals (IATP). I am a member of the Special Forces Association, Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization, International Association of Trauma Professionals, and the Baptist Association of Christian Educators (BACE).

Currently, I am pursuing a Doctor of Educational Ministry (DEdMin) with Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The focus of my ministry project is on combat trauma (post-traumatic stress and secondary traumatization) and the response of the local church. The dissertation will examine the impact combat trauma can have on the entire family and how the church can be better equipped to respond to our military families struggling with trauma caused by war.

In my spare time I enjoy fishing for Largemouth Bass with my bride, which my girl can fish! Hunting turkey and deer when there is an opportunity. Trying my hand as a novice blogger, developing my BBQ skills, wishing to play more golf, active reader of books and journals, and playing with our two Siberian Huskies.

I am a Southern Baptist by conviction and not by tradition.

 Strength and Honor,

RICHARD DAVIS, Military Ministry
